Graupert Grauburgunder by is one of their more premium natural wines made in Burgenland with grapes, aka Grauburgunder & Pinot Gris.
When made into an orange wine, Pinot Gris turns a vibrant colour due to the colour of the pink-grey skins
This vineyard of the same Graupert name is unpruned and untamed, meaning the vines find their own balance. Meinklang say that “Graupert proudly rises from the wilderness of its pruning-free vineyard. The mash-fermented Pinot Gris impresses with a variety of aromas and density and pure enjoyment. The wine walks the tightrope between impetuous rusticity and graceful grace.”
We adored the vibrancy of this orange wine, which gave off lovely notes of stewed rhubarb, candied ginger, orange zest, herbs and apricot. A real treat!
