Glenallachie 7 Year Old Hungarian Virgin Oak Whisky 70cl 48% ABV

This new release, on 21st March 2023, is from Batch 3 of the Virgin Oak Series from Glenallachie. For the first Glenallachie Virgin Oak series, they have first matured the whisky in American Oak, Ex-Bourbon Barrels. To add a delicate and distinctive twist, the whisky then undergoes additional maturation for approximately 18 months in Virgin Oak Casks.

This innovative malt attains its vibrant oaky spice and soft berry-fruit flavours from Hungarian virgin oak sources from the Zemplen forest in the mountains of northeast Hungary, near the winemaking district of Tokaj. Its rocky volcanic soil, along with colder climate and higher altitude, means that the trees in this region grow very slowly, creating a tight grain- a desirable trait for aging spirit. The result is an aromatic, well balanced expression delivering silky smooth richness.
