Susucaru is the entry-level volcanic red wine from iconic Etna based low-intervention winemaker Frank Cornelissen.
It’s mostly a field-blend made in a way that is bright, light and slightly tart with a red cherry, wet stone and earthy tones.
Unlike Frank’s more tannic, cru wines like Munjebel range and Magma, Susucaru has a ‘mega-gluggable’ profile that’s difficult not to love on a summer afternoon. However, this 2020 (and 2019) vintage is deeper, and richer than previous vintages.
Expect peppery hits and black fruit explosions. Lovely mouthfeel that is serious, yet approachable. A lovely wine!
