How is Sang de Terre from Clos Bateau made?
The Pinot Noir grapes are taken from 50 year old vines grown on Argilo-Calcaire & Granite Rose soils. The Pinot Noir grapes then see 7 months maceration in the Clos Bateau underground qvevri Amphora after being hand destemmed. Once pressing is done, it is then aged for a further 3 months in old barriques (topped off with a splash of Gamay).

Sang di Terre 2022 is a wild ride, and quite an impressive experience! There are elements of Pinot Noir you would not expect here, and tasting it blind with winemakers they guessed a Carignan or something similar from the South of France like Roussillon, a much hotter location than Beaujolais.
