Poggione Brunello di Montalcino is a wine that boasts a tradition that dates back to the Franceschi family, when they established their own viticulture business, focusing on Sangiovese grapes at the end of the 19th century. The estate is located in an ancient Tuscan winery, in the beautiful lands of Montalcino. History tells us that the Franceschi family became the largest producer of Brunello di Montalcino by the early 1900s. The grapes are grown on plots located in the enchanting Tuscan countryside, those fascinating lands that jut out on the western slopes of the Montalcino hills. Today, the land used by Poggione Brunello encompasses a total of six hundred hectares, of which 125 are used for vineyards, 70 for olive groves, and the remainder is woodland. The meticulous work carried out in the vineyards and cellars, at altitudes between 150 and 450 meters above sea level, allows for the finest characteristics and aromas typical of Tuscan soils. The vines are over 50 years old, and the favorable microclimate allows for the growth of fine grapes, which are hand-processed in the modern cellar, renovated and upgraded in 2004. Today, the cellar is equipped with the most advanced winemaking technologies, while always respecting the most ancient local traditions. Aging takes place exclusively in large French oak barrels, located five meters below ground. This is the secret of Il Poggione wines, a vast range of unique wines, such as Rosso di Montalcino, Pinot Grigio, the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino, Moscadello di Montalcino, and Sant’Antimo Riserva. Refined, elegant, and expressive wines, a Tuscan trademark that has rightfully entered the world’s most prestigious appellations.
